Soniya

Soniya is a Dean 44 catamaran. She combines the best of two worlds – all the comfort and convenience of cataramans (no danger of that g n’t falling off the table!), but still has great sailing performance.

She has 2 double guest cabins up f’ard; one of the aft cabins can be a (cosy) double bed, or probably better used as a bunkbed cabin.  The owner/skipper Kareem has a huge range of fun “water toys”  – check out the video of us trying out some yoga moves on his enormous SUP.  (Yes, of course – we all went into the water like dominos! Beer o’clock on the SUP turned into a better idea…

Like all other boats in the Philippines, Soniya  charters out just to full groups. However, when our SeaScape team put together one of our shareboat groups, there’s chance for you to join as a single/couple, etc – you don’t need to worry about recruiting a whole group of friends!

Of course, if you already have a group of buddies ready and rarin’ to go – you can pick whatever dates are available!

Owner/skipper on Soniya – Kareem

Kareem - Soniya

Having spent most of his early professional life in the media business in Hong Kong, Kareem picked up a love of sailing there.

He soon realised, however, that dodging containers and other various vessels around the crowded Hong Kong waters wasn’t really his style… and “living the dream” was something he wanted to do whilst he was still in his prime years, no waiting around for retirement!

So from one extreme of shoulder-to-shoulder population to the pristine, open waters of the Philippines – Kareem has now made these islands home; cruising and chartering for the past 6 years!

Orion was custom-designed by her owners specifically as a charter yacht, and she is just perfect for the job!

With 60′ of space, there’s tons of room both above and below decks. A spacious cockpit, big enough to invite the neighbours over for Happy Hour, and later enjoy dinner-under-the-stars, with a feast rustled up by Skip and Thalie, a mix of Phillipino and western cuisine.

She has 4 double guest cabins, two of which can convert to bunkbeds for singles. The crew cabin is up f’ard, with their own facilities. Onboard there is plenty of snorkelling equipment; the tropical underwater world is just stunning, that snorkel gear is going to get a lot of use! Fishing tackle is also included; sea kayaks and SUPs are available on request also.

Orion normally charters out just to full groups; however, we also run an annual shareboat trip there, usually around the March/April timeframe. Contact us for the latest lowdown on each year’s shareboat trip.

(Else bring your own group of buddies, then you can come explore this tranquil, tropical paradise whenever you like!)

Your hosts on Orion – Skip and Thalie.

Ray SeaScape Sailing

Hailing originally from California and France, Skip and Thalie have lived aboard their gorgeous S/Y Orion for over a decade now. Skip is the archetypal “man of the sea”, having lived aboard yachts for most of his adult years. He is also a very dab hand in the galley – don’t expect to lose any weight on this trip!

Thalie is the mermaid of the team; dive instructor and expedition leader, whether we’re exploring under the water, or hiking up to dramatic peaks.

Stepping aboard 30m Schooner Dallinghoo is like taking a trip back in time, to Ye Olde Days of gaff-rigged tall ships, in all their splendour and style. She was built in 1990, then treated to a top-to-toe refit and facelift in 2014-16.

Now she combines all the glamour and traditional feel of a classic yacht, with the latest in modern technology and interior design to make her super-comfortable as a liveaboard sailboat. She still features original Burmese teak fittings and flooring, with bright, cheerful Thai silk adornments to add to her character.

The yacht usually sleeps up to 8 guests in total, with a huge master suite aft; two other spacious double cabins plus a 4th guest cabin which can be a double or twins. All have en suite facilities and air-con. Or for those who prefer their sleep to be more au naturel, each cabin has quiet fans and plenty of ventilation.

Down below, there is a large, semi-circular dining area, which can seat 8 guests with plenty of space and comfort. Or of course, dining under the stars is always a magical option; to match the “magic” of what comes out of the galley, from her amazing Thai chef!

You are more than welcome to get involved in the sailing, and learn about the old art of sailing a gaff-rigged yacht; or sit back and relax on her expansive, shaded deck; taking in the stunning scenery surrounding you. When at anchor, there are plenty of boat toys to play with; kayaks, SUPs and a small sailing dinghy. For certified divers, there is a compressor and dive gear onboard; if anyone is a little “rusty” on their scuba skills and needs a refresher, a divemaster can be added to the crew also.

Layout

  • 6 cabins in total
  • 1 mega master cabin with en suite facilities.
  • 3 large double cabins
  • 1 twin bunkbed cabin
  • 1 quad crew cabin, f’ard.

Sleeps 8 guests in total, either 4 doubles or 3 double + 1 twin.

All cabins have their own heads (toilet + shower)

Full Steam is a Grainger 40′, ideal for smaller groups and perfect for those who like a little adrenelin with their sailing! Her average cruising speed is 7-8 knots, but she’s been known to hit 17-20 knots on a good wind day! Her lightweight design means that even in low winds during high season, she’ll pick up her skirts and sail you from island to island, rather than having to motor.

She has 2 equal double cabins in the aft, and one single up f’ard. Crew quarters are separate. All cabins have big hatches and fans, and of course, there is the wonderfully comfortable trampoline on the foredeck for those who would like to sleep under the stars. Groups of 6 are possible, if one of the guests wants to sleep out on deck or in the saloon.

Her curved saloon table easily fits up to 6 guests, whilst there is also plenty of shaded area for eating al fresco during the day.

Full Steam is normally skippered by her longtime owner, Captain Alex, and the ambiance on board is very relaxed and casual. With his many years of experience, around Phuket and around the world, he has many seafaring stories to tell ! If you would like to have the luxury of a cook onboard too, this can be added on.

Although most of these yachts are normally overnight charter boats – with our current Covid situation, their schedules are a lot more flexible. So if you’re already in Thailand and fancy an amazing day afloat, or perhaps a long weekend with some buddies – drop us a line! We’re on CDT = “Covid Deal Time!”

Cataleya is a huge, 18m luxurious cruising catamaran, which can sleep up to 10 guests in great comfort, or up to 14 if you are cosy buddies!

She has two seriously huge master cabins up f’ard, with a queen-sized bed and two single bunks. Then there are two more double cabins, plus another twin cabin with bunkbeds. Each have their own en suite facilities.

Cataleya’s saloon is light, bright and super-spacious; a favourite hang-out spot is her galley-bar that would rival many city-style apartments! It has some cool “land-lubber-like” accessories, like beer on tap and an expresso machine!

There is an indoor dining space, should any tropical downpours happen during dinner time; otherwise, the most popular place to enjoy the amazing cuisine is outdoors in the cockpit, where two twin tables can accommodate all 14 people, should you have a mega charter party onboard.

Her deck space is correspondingly enormous, with huge, comfy lounging areas – and the keynote bean bags! It’s not unusual for our guests to stay put in their beanbag or trampoline after dinner; sleeping in the tropical warmth under the stars is an experience not to be missed.

As with all the boats, lots of “boat toys” can be added to your trip to enable you to explore further – on the water or under it!

Mozart is the twin sister to Amadeus, with the same layout, uncluttered decks and those wonderful trampolines to lay out on and watch the water whoosh! past you underneath. Oh, and did we mention the bean bags?? Top favourite accessories on these boats!

She also has 4 double cabins; 3 en suite and the fourth with shared facilities. All cabins have plenty of ventilation and double fans in each cabin. And of course, she comes with a Thai cook trained to absolute 5* star standards. There’s only one problem with the food you’ll experience on these boats; your local Thai restaurant at home will never be the same again!

She also has the same horseshoe-shaped table which can comfortably fit all her 8 guests; or dining al fresco is always a super-popular option too.

A wide selection of “boat toys” can be added to your trip; sea kayaks, SUPs, masseuse – even a dive compressor and dive master, for any keen diver/sailors.

Although these boats are normally overnight charter yachts – with our current Covid prices, their schedules are a lot more flexible. So if you’re already in Thailand and fancy an amazing day afloat, or perhaps a long weekend with some buddies – drop us a line! We’re on CDT = “Covid Deal Time!”
